The Grip Weeds

ARTIST HISTORY
As 2006 ended with The Grip Weeds’ Christmas song “Christmas, Bring Us” receiving coolest song of the week honors on Little Steven’s Underground Garage radio show, the band put the final touches on the long awaited remix of their highly acclaimed first album, HOUSE OF VIBES REVISITED, due to be released early this year. With its impressive blend of pop, rock and psychedelia, the band’s trademark lush harmonies and high caliber song writing, the record put the Grip Weeds on the map in the ‘90s.

HOUSE OF VIBES REVISITED is much more than a reissue of the original 1994 release. Grip Weeds Kurt and Rick Reil, who have engineered nearly all of the band’s recorded output, have gone back to the original multi-tracks using digital technology in a way that would not have been possible even a few years ago. The result is a dramatic and sometimes astonishing sonic difference, allowing listeners to hear the music as the band would have wanted originally but couldn’t achieve due to technical limitations in 1994. At that time, before the widespread use of digital technology, the Grip Weeds were virtually pioneering the now ubiquitous practice of serious home studio recording. This record was not only the band’s first but also a statement of musical independence that the Grip Weeds have followed ever since.
