Image: Pure Grain formed in 2002. Singer songwriter Chris Taber had joined forces with guitarist Dave Lacey, performing acoustic duo shows around the Cincinnati area. Looking to record the first independent release Dave enlisted longtime friend and drummer/producer Brian DeBruler. The chemistry was obvious and the rootsy sound, infectious. The first release, No Regrets, was recorded in DeBruler's studio in Bright Indiana and was distributed by Burnside Records.

"No Regrets" (2002)is a collection of songs centered on Chris's experience of leaving his hometown in Greenville South Carolina, in pursuit of his dreams to be an entertainer. The CD depicts a rocky transformation from the Carolina Kid sleeping under the bridge in Nashville, to the beginnings of Pure Grain in the Cincinnati music scene. Elements of blues guitar raked over country-soul penetrate deep into the grooves of this Midwestern bands' sound. Impressive song writing, smooth and memorable melodies build up each song with an infectious sultry edge. A guttural, emotive vocal delivery drives the bands’ songs.

“Freedom Child”-EP, the bands second release in 2005, was a tribute to the American soldiers serving overseas and abroad, inspired by letters the band received from soldiers in Afghanistan. The disc includes the singles “Freedom Child” and When I’m Alone.

“Out of the Storm”,(June 2009) the bands' 3rd CD release, expands on their original acoustic country sound. The Carolina Kid shines through with his southern hospitality and uncanny ability to pull you into each and every song. The disc has garnered nationwide attention and has been featured on Sirius/XM Road Dog trucking, Outlaw Country and other stations across the US. Pure Grain has also been recently featured in "Truckers News" and Expedite Now Magazines, in truck stops across the United States.

The group has toured nationwide with fans hailing from all parts of the country. Pure Grain co-headlined the Expedite Trucking Expo 2009 "A Salute to the American Worker" free concert, for the economically distressed Wilmington, OH featuring Rob and Ryno from CMT's "Trick My Truck" and Dave Nemo from Sirius/XM "Road Dog Trucking" channel. The Carolina Kid and crew have opened for Hank Williams Jr., Bone Pony, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and others.
