ARTIST HISTORY
I first started taking banjo lessons when I was teenager living in Ozone Park, NY. I used to walk two miles every week to the music studio carrying my 5 string in a canvas bag. which I still have. My music teacher was Luke Howe and he was a pretty good guitar player. He played just about every stringed instrument in his music store. He taught me the basics, and especially how to read music, a skill I appreciate to this very day. I put it second only to my typing skills, probably the only useful thing I learned in school. I started performing folk music in high school and even won a music award in my senior year. It was the only good thing I remember about high school. I also played in a rock band with my
Gretsch Anniversary Model. After that, I formed a duet called the Bookends. I often replay some of the old analog recordings we made.
I continue writing songs and would put them in the folk acoustic category.
I like to write songs about my experiences and people that have influenced me in some way. I combine stringed instruments I have at my disposal, but especially the 5 string banjo, guitar both 6 & 12 string, Fender electric with GR33 synth, tiples 10 string, and Tenor guitar.
